Matt Olson drove in two runs with a home run and a single, and right-hander James Kaprielian continued his impressive season with six shutout innings Tuesday afternoon, sending the Oakland Athletics to a 6-0 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Angels.

The A's swept the two-game series.

Ramon Laureano joined Olson with two hits, while Mark Canha, Tony Kemp and Olson scored two runs apiece for the A's, who completed a second-half-opening homestand with a 3-2 record. Oakland won for the ninth time in 12 meetings with the Angels this season.

Serving as the designated hitter, Shohei Ohtani walked once and struck out three times, once with a runner in scoring position, for the Angels, who lost their third straight.

After Angels starter Jose Suarez (4-3) opened the game by retiring the first 11 Oakland batters in order, Olson clubbed his 25th home run of the season to open the scoring in the fourth.

The A's extended to 4-0 in the sixth on a Jed Lowrie sacrifice fly and a two-run double by Laureano. Two-out RBI singles by Elvis Andrus and Olson made it 6-0 in the seventh.

Kaprielian (5-3) allowed five hits and two walks in six shutout innings. He struck out seven.

The Southern California native, whose high school was just 10 miles from Angel Stadium of Anaheim, pitched in his second game against the Angels this season. He started an 8-4 win earlier this season, but did not get a decision.

The six shutout innings lowered his ERA to 2.65, the best among American League rookies who have made 10 or more starts.

Sergio Romo, Sam Moll and Deolis Guerra completed Oakland's eighth shutout of the season with an inning of scoreless relief apiece, combining for four strikeouts.

Adam Eaton had two singles for the Angels, who did not collect an extra-base hit. They were out-hit 8-7.

Suarez, who had pitched 5 1/3 innings of shutout relief over two appearances against the A's earlier this season, was charged with four runs on three hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out four.
