Ramon Urias was one of four Orioles with two hits, including an RBI single in a five-run third, as Baltimore defeated the host Kansas City Royals 8-4 Saturday night in the middle game of a three-game series. Urias also drove in two runs.

The Orioles lost 9-2 in the series opener Friday night.

Paul Fry (3-3) pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win. Four pitches out of the Orioles' bullpen combined for 4 1/3 innings and allowed no runs on just two hits and a walk.

Baltimore starter Jorge Lopez had a chance to take advantage of the offensive outburst. But the major league leader in losses (12) lasted just 4 2/3 innings, one-third of an inning shy of qualifying.

Royals starter Brady Singer (3-7) took the loss, allowing a career-high seven earned runs. He gave up eight hits and a walk in two-plus innings and struck out one.

The Orioles got two runs off Singer in the second. DJ Stewart led off with a single and Anthony Santander walked. Urias' single drove in Stewart and sent Santander to third. Santander then scored on a groundout by Domingo Leyba.

The Orioles chased Singer before he was able to record an out in the third. Cedric Mullins led off with a double, followed by five straight singles by Trey Mancini, Ryan Mountcastle, Stewart, Santander and Urias. The last four hits drove in runs, and Urias' knock sent Singer to the showers.

Richard Lovelady relieved Singer and allowed an RBI single to Pedro Severino, closing the book on Singer.

The Royals scored in the bottom of the inning when Carlos Santana drove in Nicky Lopez with a two-out double.

Mancini led off the fourth with a triple off the glove of Ryan O'Hearn in right, then scored on Mountcastle's sacrifice fly.

The Royals loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth off Jorge Lopez, and eventually all three scored, ending Lopez's night.

O'Hearn and Michael A. Taylor led off the inning with singles and Nicky Lopez walked. A wild pitch scored O'Hearn and Whit Merrifield's sacrifice fly scored Taylor. After Jorge Lopez struck out Santana for the second out, Salvador Perez singled in Nicky Lopez, chasing Jorge Lopez.
