Wil Myers hit two homers and drove in seven runs, and Jake Cronenworth hit for the third cycle in franchise history Friday night as the visiting San Diego Padres scored a franchise-record 24 runs in a 24-8 rout of the Washington Nationals.

Nine different Padres drove in runs, with six having at least two RBIs.

Myers' fourth career grand slam capped a seven-run Padres second after the score was tied 3-3 after one inning. The Padres scored in eight of the nine innings, including six runs in the sixth and four in the eighth, and finished with 22 hits.

The Padres' previous record for runs scored in a game was 20.

Cronenworth got the cycle with a sixth-inning single. He had doubled in the second, tripled in the third and homered in the fifth. He finished 4-for-5 with four RBIs and a run scored.

Tommy Pham fell a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He was 4-for-6 with a walk, two RBIs, and he tied a franchise record with five runs scored.

Myers finished 3-for-6, adding a two-run homer in the sixth and an RBI single in the eighth. Eric Hosmer was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Brian O'Grady also drove in two runs. Jorge Mateo hit the Padres' fifth homer of the game for their final run in the ninth.

The Padres scored three runs in the top of the first against Erick Fedde. But the Nationals tied the game on a three-run homer by Juan Soto off Padres starter Chris Paddack.

Soto later added a solo homer (and finished with four hits), and Gerardo Parra hit a three-run homer for the Nationals.

Paddack (5-6) earned the win, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk in five innings. Fedde (4-7) took the loss, giving up six runs on three hits and four walks in 1 1/3 innings.
