Carlos Correa belted a solo homer and drove in two runs to fuel the visiting Houston Astros to a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Saturday.
Houston's Abraham Toro also went deep among his two hits and Jake Odorizzi (3-3) tossed six-plus strong innings. The Astros have won the first three contests of this four-game series heading into the finale on Sunday afternoon.
Odorizzi extended his scoreless innings streak to 18 2/3 before Eddie Rosario crossed the plate on a fielder's choice by Bradley Zimmer in the fourth to trim Houston's lead to 3-1. Rosario and Harold Ramirez had back-to-back doubles to begin the seventh inning and chase Odorizzi, who allowed two runs (one earned) and four hits on a season-high 91 pitches.
Ryne Stanek entered the game and promptly struck out two of the three batters he faced to end the threat.
Cristian Javier fanned two batters in a scoreless eighth inning and Ryan Pressly did the same in the ninth to secure his 14th save of the season.
Rosario had two doubles and Bobby Bradley added another for the Indians, who have lost a season-high five in a row. Cleveland star third baseman Jose Ramirez missed his second consecutive contest with a bone bruise in his left elbow.
Houston got the early jump as Myles Straw ripped a double to deep center field to lead off the first inning. Straw advanced to third on a one-out single by Yuli Gurriel before coming home on Correa's single to left-center field to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.
Correa doubled the advantage to lead off the fourth inning after he deposited a 3-2 changeup from rookie Eli Morgan (1-3) over the wall in left field. Correa's homer was his 16th of the season and first since June 26.
Toro followed two batters later by sending a first-pitch slider over the wall in right field for his third homer of the season.
Houston outfielder Michael Brantley, who played parts of 10 seasons in Cleveland, was a late scratch from the lineup due to right side discomfort. Star second baseman Jose Altuve (rest) and outfielder Kyle Tucker (back spasms) also sat out for the Astros.
