Pinch hitter Brad Miller hit a walk-off double off the wall in deep center field against Austin Adams in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the host Philadelphia Phillies past the San Diego Padres 4-3 on Friday.

Miller's game-winning hit snapped an 0-for-23 slump that lasted more than three weeks.

Jean Segura added two hits for the Phillies, who had a 3-0 lead before giving up three runs in the ninth inning.

Didi Gregorius returned from the injured list and had a home run, while and Zack Wheeler tossed 7 2/3 shutout innings.

Wheeler gave up four hits, struck out nine and walked none. Wheeler threw 114 pitches, 78 for strikes and lowered his ERA to 2.05.

Wheeler lasted at least seven innings and allowed no runs for the fifth time this season, tops in Major League Baseball.

Ranger Suarez (4-2) suffered a blown save but picked up the win in relief. The Phillies have eight blown saves in the last nine games.

Jurickson Profar had two hits and two RBIs while Fernando Tatis Jr. had two doubles and an RBI for the Padres.

Padres starter Chris Paddack pitched seven innings and allowed four hits and three runs. Paddack, who last threw seven innings in August of 2019, struck out five and walked one.

Adams (2-2) took the loss for San Diego, which has dropped two in a row.

The Phillies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when J.T. Realmuto and Bryce Harper each recorded RBI groundouts.

The Padres managed two hits through the first four innings, a single by Manny Machado and a double by Tatis.

Philadelphia moved ahead 3-0 when Gregorius pounced on a change-up and launched a solo home run to right in the fifth.

Jake Cronenworth opened the ninth with a walk and Machado struck out looking. As the rain began to fall, Tatis then ripped an RBI double to close the Padres within 3-1. Trent Grisham walked and Eric Hosmer grounded out. Profar tied the game with a two-run double to left off Suarez.
