Pablo Sandoval came through with another extra-inning homer, his two-out, 11th-inning shot Friday night leading the visiting San Francisco Giants to a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres.

San Francisco improved to 7-0 in extra-inning games since the All-Star break. Sandoval's 13th-inning homer Tuesday gave the Giants a 5-4, walk-off win over the Chicago Cubs.

On Friday, Sandoval's 13th homer of the season came on a 1-2 pitch from Logan Allen (2-3). The 365-foot drive just cleared the leap of Padres left fielder Wil Myers.

The victory was the Giants' sixth straight over the Padres, who are 6-14 in their last 20 games and have lost eight straight home games. San Francisco has 18 wins in the past 22 games.

Mark Melancon (4-2) earned the win after throwing one perfect inning. Will Smith picked up his 25th save with a scoreless bottom of the 11th.

The game was tied 1-1 when both starting pitchers departed after six innings.

Giants right-hander Jeff Samardzija gave up a solo homer to Austin Hedges with one out in the fifth inning to erase a 1-0 San Francisco lead. Samardzija allowed the one run on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts.

San Diego left-hander Joey Lucchesi yielded one run on two hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.

The first hit allowed by Lucchesi produced the Giants' initial run in the third. Tyler Austin walked to open the inning, stole second and scored on Donovan Solano's two-out double off the wall in center field.

Lucchesi got out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the fifth without giving up a run. Zach Green reached base on an error by first baseman Eric Hosmer to open the inning and moved to second on Austin's single. Brandon Crawford then drew a walk to load the bases. Lucchesi struck out Samardzija, retired Solano on an infield fly and got Brandon Belt to ground out.

In the bottom of the fifth, Hedges drove a 2-0 fastball from Samardzija 419 feet onto the second balcony of the Western Metal Supply Co. building in left. It was Hedges' eighth homer of the season and his second in his past five games.
