Baltimore slugged three early home runs to support the successful return of starting pitcher Dylan Bundy from the injured list as the Orioles beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-2 Tuesday night in Phoenix.

Renato Nunez, Anthony Santander and Dwight Smith Jr. homered in the first three innings off Merrill Kelly (7-10), helping stake Bundy to a 7-2 lead.

Bundy, who had been sidelined since July 12 because of right knee tendinitis, labored early, needing 58 pitches to get through the first two innings. He settled down from there, retiring nine in a row at one point and getting through six frames with two runs allowed.

Bundy (5-11) allowed four hits, all singles, walked three and struck out five while finishing with 94 pitches. He entered the game having allowed 17 runs in 17 innings in his previous four starts.

Baltimore reliever Richard Bleier pitched a scoreless seventh, helped by the Orioles turning their third double play of the game. Shawn Armstrong tossed two hitless innings to close out the win and even the three-game series.

Nunez, who went 2-for-3, got things started with his team-leading 24th home run, a solo shot to start the second inning. Smith followed with a single, and Santander homered for a 3-0 lead.

Arizona had Bundy on the ropes in the bottom of the inning. Kelly, who had gone hitless in 33 career at-bats, slapped a bases-loaded grounder past second baseman Hanser Alberto for a two-run single. But the rally ended there, as Jarrod Dyson popped out to shortstop for the second out and Ketel Marte struck out looking.

Baltimore scored four more runs in the third inning. Nunez had an RBI single before Smith launched a three-run homer to right.

Kelly gave up a season-high-tying seven runs on eight hits in 2 1/3 innings. He struck out four and walked none.

Smith and Santander each went 2-for-4.

Arizona's Marte went 0-for-4, ending his streak of five consecutive games with two hits.

Arizona's relievers pitched 6 2/3 innings of one-hit ball, with 11 strikeouts and two walks. T.J. McFarland recorded six of his eight outs via strikeouts.
