Max Muncy walked with the bases loaded in the top of the 12th inning for the go-ahead run as the Los Angeles Dodgers topped the host Boston Red Sox 7-4 on Sunday night.

Los Angeles loaded the bases on a walk, an interference call against pitcher Hector Velazquez along the first base line and a single before Muncy took ball four on the fifth pitch he saw from Velazquez (1-4). An Alex Verdugo RBI single added further insurance, and Russell Martin beat out a grounder to avoid a double play for a three-run cushion.

Dylan Floro (4-2), who escaped an 11th-inning jam, walked the leadoff man in the 12th and got a strikeout before Joe Kelly fanned the final two hitters for his first save of the season.

The win in the rubber contest of a three-game series between last year's World Series opponents was Los Angeles' second straight following a four-game skid. Boston dropped its second straight since a five-game winning streak.

The Red Sox had the winning run in scoring position in each of the ninth, 10th and 11th innings but failed to break through. Boston trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the eighth before Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez hit back-to-back home runs off Pedro Baez to knot the score.

Baez had just taken over for Hyun-Jin Ryu, who allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk over seven innings, striking out six. He and Boston starter David Price each struggled in the first before settling in.

Price had two men on in the top of the frame when A.J. Pollock hit an apparent popup to right field that carried and wrapped around the foul pole in right field for a 3-0 Dodgers lead.

In their half of the first, the Red Sox loaded the bases on a trio of singles before Andrew Benintendi drove in a run on a single toward Chris Taylor at shortstop. A throwing error by Taylor allowed a second run to score to trim the lead to 3-2.

From that point, Price avoided damage until Pollock struck again with an RBI single in the fifth inning while Ryu retired 12 straight until Rafael Devers singled in the fifth. Devers, who advanced to second on an error, was later thrown out at home on a Martinez single to end the frame.

Price gave up four runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out seven in five innings.
