Dylan Carlson drove in his first three runs of the season to lift the St. Louis Cardinals past the visiting Colorado Rockies 8-5 on Friday night.
Paul Goldschmidt drove in two runs while extending his on-base streak to 24 games.
Cardinals starting pitcher Lance Lynn allowed four runs on six hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out six.
JoJo Romero (3-1), St. Louis' fifth pitcher, earned the victory, and Ryan Helsley picked up his 21st save in 22 opportunities.
Michael Toglia hit a three-run triple for the Rockies, who have lost six of their past seven games.
Rockies starter Austin Gomber, who began his career with the Cardinals, allowed four runs and six hits in five innings. He struck out four and walked one. Reliever Matt Carasiti (0-1) took the loss.
Colorado second baseman Brendan Rodgers exited the game in the fourth inning. He pulled up sore while running out a grounder.
The Cardinals took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Masyn Winn hit a double, went to third on Alec Burleson's single, then scored on Goldschmidt's infield single.
Burleson and Goldschmidt advanced on a wild pitch, and Nolan Arenado hit a sacrifice fly and Nolan Gorman added an RBI single.
St. Louis increased its lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second. Winn drew a two-out walk, took third on Burleson's single and scored on Goldschmidt's single.
The Rockies tied the score with a four-run fourth inning. Singles by Elias Diaz and Brenton Doyle and a walk to Jake Cave set the table for Toglia's triple. Toglia continued home on a throwing error.
Colorado moved ahead 5-4 in the fifth inning when Ryan McMahon hit a double and scored on Alan Trejo's single.
The Cardinals tied the score in the sixth inning on singles by Ivan Herrera, Brendan Donovan and Carlson.
St. Louis took an 8-5 lead in the eighth inning on a walk to Gorman, singles by Herrera and Donovan, and Carlson's two-run double.
