Josh Donaldson hit a tiebreaking two-run homer with two outs in the fifth inning following a rain delay and the visiting New York Yankees rallied for a 5-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night.

The Yankees put together a four-run fifth following a 49-minute delay.

Donaldson, who grounded out with the bases loaded to end the third, hit his first homer with the Yankees when he drove a 1-0 cutter from Travis Lakins Sr. (0-1) into the second row of the center field seats for a 4-2 lead.

Before Donaldson's 403-foot drive, Anthony Rizzo hit an RBI single to score Aaron Hicks, who opened the inning with a walk before rain and hail resulted in the second delay of the night.

Giancarlo Stanton followed Rizzo's hit with a game-tying double to left-center field. Rizzo, originally called safe at the plate, was later ruled out when replays showed catcher Anthony Bemboom's tag beat the slide.

Jose Trevino doubled and scored on a wild pitch by Paul Fry in the sixth after Aaron Judge reached on catcher's interference to load the bases.

Cedric Mullins hit a two-run homer on a 3-0 pitch in the third for the Orioles, who were held to three runs or less for the seventh time in eight games to start the season.

New York's Jameson Taillon finished an out shy of qualifying for the win, allowing two runs on three hits in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out two, walked one and exited after walking Bemboom.

J.P. Sears (1-0) walked Mullins to load the bases but ended the fifth when Ramon Urias flew out to the warning track in right. Sears put two on in the sixth before Michael King followed with two scoreless innings.

Clay Holmes stranded two to end the eighth and tossed a hitless ninth for his first career save.

Baltimore's Tyler Wells allowed three hits in four innings. He struck out three and walked four in a 64-pitch outing before Michael Baumann started the fifth.
