Wade Miley tossed seven scoreless innings, and Tyler Naquin went 3-for-4 with a homer, leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-0 win over the host Miami Marlins on Friday night.

Mike Moustakas added a solo homer and an RBI double for the Reds, who recorded seven extra-base hits.

The Reds, who are 16-8 when Miley pitches, won for the sixth time in eight games as they continue to lead in the race for the second and final wild-card playoff berth in the National League.

Miley (11-4) won his seventh straight decision, allowing six hits and one walk. He also stroked an RBI double, struck out five and lowered his ERA to 2.74.

Miami rookie Zach Thompson (2-6) took the loss, allowing six hits, one walk and five runs (three earned). The Marlins have lost eight of the past nine games started by Thompson.

Cincinnati got to Thompson quickly as Naquin pulled a 1-2 fastball to right for a 1-0 first-inning lead. It was Naquin's 19th homer of the season, and it was measured at 382 feet.

The Reds extended their lead to 5-0 in the fourth. Joey Votto started the rally with a leadoff double to the gap in left-center. Moustakas then drilled an RBI double over the head of right fielder Jesus Sanchez.

With two outs, Miami walked Max Schrock to get to Miley, who stunned the Marlins by slashing an RBI opposite-field double down the third-base line. The Reds then capped their rally when Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas -- after backhanding a Jonathan India grounder -- threw over the glove of first baseman Jesus Aguilar, allowing two more runs to score.

Moustakas' eighth-inning homer -- measured at 427 feet -- gave the Reds a 6-0 lead.

Meanwhile, the Marlins struggled to generate offense, getting doubles by Thompson in the second, Jorge Alfaro (fourth) and Bryan De La Cruz (seventh). But Miami didn't get a baserunner to third base until the eighth, when reliever Jeff Hoffman walked the first two batters in the inning.
