Lewis Brinson homered twice and Sandy Alcantara pitched seven scoreless innings, leading the Miami Marlins to a 7-0 win over the host San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon.

Marlins rookie right fielder Bryan De La Cruz hit his first career homer as Miami snapped San Diego's four-game win streak.

Alcantara (7-10) helped Miami snap a five-game losing streak, which was the second-longest skid of the season for the last-place Marlins. Reaching 101 mph with his fastball, Alcantara allowed four hits and two walks, striking out seven.

Anthony Bender and Dylan Floro -- with one inning each -- completed the shutout.

Brinson, who has seven homers this season, went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored and one walk. He batted .476 (10-for-21) on this just concluded six-game road trip. In addition, this was just the third multi-homer game of his four-year MLB career.

Padres rookie Ryan Weathers (4-5) took the loss, allowing seven hits, one walk and six runs in 4 2/3 innings. He did pick off Isan Diaz at first base, which was noteworthy. The Marlins have been picked off 19 times this year, which leads the majors. Seattle, with 11 to start the day, is second.

Miami got off to a 3-0 start for the second straight game. This time, Miguel Rojas walked, Diaz pulled an RBI double, and Brinson slugged a two-run homer off the top of the wall in left-center.

A pair of solo homers in the next two innings gave Miami a 5-0 lead as De La Cruz went deep in just his 13th MLB game, and Brinson hit his second dinger 433 feet. Brinson's first homer didn't go nearly as far -- 377 feet.

Miami extended its lead to 6-0 in the fifth. With two outs and nobody on, Jorge Alfaro doubled and scored on Brian Anderson's single.

The Marlins closed the scoring in the eighth as Rojas drew a bases-loaded walk.

In the ninth, San Diego's Eric Hosmer just missed a solo homer, flying out to the warning track in left.
