Eduardo Escobar and Luis Urias each tallied two hits and an RBI as the Milwaukee Brewers pulled away for a 6-3 win over the host Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night to sweep a doubleheader.
Jackie Bradley Jr., Christian Yelich, Omar Narvaez and Rowdy Tellez also drove in one run apiece in the Brewers' six-run fifth inning. Milwaukee, which earned a 4-2 win in the first game, improved to 11-3 against the Cubs this season.
Patrick Wisdom homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Cubs, who have lost six in a row.
Brewers right-hander Miguel Sanchez (1-0) earned his first major league win despite facing just one batter. He struck out Johneshwy Fargas to end the fourth inning.
Sanchez was one of six relievers who followed starter Aaron Ashby, who tossed two scoreless innings in his second career start and threw 19 of 23 pitches for strikes.
Cubs right-hander Dan Winkler (1-3) gave up three runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings.
The Cubs grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Wisdom swung at the first pitch of the inning and connected on a 391-foot shot to right field for his 17th homer of the season.
Milwaukee responded in the top of the fifth to take a commanding lead.
Urias led off the inning with a double, advanced to third on a groundout by Jace Peterson and scored on Bradley's double to deep right field. After Avisail Garcia walked, Bradley reached third on a wild pitch and sprinted home on a groundout by Yelich.
Willy Adames was intentionally walked. Narvaez added to the Brewers' lead with a line-drive single to center field that drove in Garcia. Cubs center fielder Rafael Ortega tried to nab Garcia at the plate, but his throw was off line.
Escobar made it 4-1 with a single to right field that scored Adames.
In the next at-bat, Tellez singled to center to score Narvaez. Urias capped the big inning with a bloop single to center to bring home Escobar.
The Cubs pulled within 6-2 in the sixth on an RBI single by Fargas. Wisdom wrapped the scoring with an RBI double in the seventh.
