Corey Seager hit a two-run homer to open the 12th inning Friday night, triggering a five-run rally that led the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers to an 11-6 victory over the San Diego Padres.
The Dodgers earned their seventh consecutive win while the Padres lost for the third time in four games.
Mookie Betts was the inning-opening runner on second when Seager homered to center on the first pitch he saw from Tim Hill (0-2). The Dodgers added on with RBI singles by Zach McKinstry and Luke Raley and a sacrifice fly by winning pitcher David Price (1-0) to Padres no-hitter pitcher Joe Musgrove, who was playing left field.
The Padres failed to score with the winning at third and one out in both the 10th and 11th innings.
Both teams scored in the ninth against the other side's closer.
Los Angeles' Justin Turner drove in Betts with a tiebreaking single off Mark Melancon with one out in the top of the ninth to give the Dodgers a 6-5 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, Manny Machado drew a two-out walk from Kenley Jansen, stole second, moved to third on wild pitch and scored on Eric Hosmer's single to send the contest into extra innings.
The Padres had tied the game at 5-5 with two runs in the eighth. Jurickson Profar followed singles by Machado and Wil Myers with an opposite-field, two-run double into the left field corner.
The Dodgers scored three runs in the sixth with the help of two Padres defensive lapses to take a 4-2 lead.
The Padres took a 1-0 lead in the second against Dodgers starter Walker Buehler. Machado opened the inning with a single, stole second and scored on Luis Campusano's single.
The Dodgers tied the game in the top of the fifth on Raley's first major league homer, off reliever Dan Altavilla. Fernando Tatis Jr. then gave the Padres a 2-1 lead, homering in the bottom of the inning. Tatis was activated from the injured list before the game after missing 10 days due to a shoulder ailment.
Ryan Weathers made his first major league start for the Padres and allowed a hit and two walks in 3 2/3 scoreless innings. Buehler allowed two runs on seven hits over six innings.
Before the game, the Dodgers announced that outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger, who hadn't played since April 5, was diagnosed with a hairline fracture to his left fibula. No return date was specified.
