Tyler Naquin homered twice and posted a career-high seven RBIs while Wade Miley allowed two hits and struck out six over six scoreless innings, as the Cincinnati Reds rolled to a fourth straight win, 14-1 over the visiting Pirates on Tuesday night.
Facing veteran Trevor Cahill in his Pittsburgh debut, Naquin clubbed a towering home run to right field to lead off the bottom of the first. After rookie Jonathan India's RBI single in the second, Naquin's three-run drive into Cincinnati's left-center field bullpen made it 5-0.
Naquin also picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice in the fourth and delivered a two-run single during the five-run fifth for Cincinnati, which had 17 hits on Tuesday, and has totaled 46 runs and homered 10 times in five 2021 contests.
Naquin, who signed a minor league deal with Cincinnati after playing his first six seasons with Cleveland, recorded the most single-game RBIs by a Red since Scooter Gennett's 10 on June 6, 2017. Through five games with Cincinnati, Naquin is 5-for-14 with three homers and 12 RBIs.
Miley, meanwhile, did not allow a hit until Bryan Reynolds' double to lead off the fourth inning while walking only one en route to his first victory since September 2019. Pittsburgh's lone run came in the seventh, when Phillip Evans homered for the second consecutive night.
Evans also pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for the Pirates, who have dropped seven in a row at Cincinnati. Cahill yielded seven runs and nine hits over four innings for the Pirates, who have totaled eight runs while losing four straight since a 5-3 Opening Day victory over the Chicago Cubs.
India and Tucker Barnhart each had three hits and combined for seven RBIs on the night. Nick Senzel also recorded three hits for Cincinnati.
Colin Moran, Kevin Newman and Dustin Fowler each had a hit for Pittsburgh.
