Sam Hilliard scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 13th inning, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in Denver on Sunday to sweep the three-game series.

Dom Nunez homered, and Pat Valaika had two hits for the Rockies (71-91), who avoided finishing in last place a year after challenging the Los Angeles Dodgers for the National League West title.

Bryan Shaw (3-2) pitched the top of the 13th to get the win. Jake Faria (0-1) took the loss for the Brewers.

Yasmani Grandal and Hernan Perez homered, and Tyrone Taylor had two hits for Milwaukee. The Brewers (89-73) finished two games behind St. Louis after failing to capitalize on two chances to catch the Cardinals in the NL Central over the weekend.

Milwaukee's fate was decided early Sunday when the Cardinals routed the Chicago Cubs, 9-0. The Brewers will travel to Washington to take on the Nationals in the NL wild-card game Tuesday night.

Milwaukee lost in extra innings for the second straight day. It had a 2-1 lead with two outs in the bottom of the ninth Saturday, but closer Josh Hader gave up a game-tying home run, and the Rockies won it with a solo shot from Trevor Story in the 10th.

The Brewers went ahead 2-0 in the first Sunday on Grandal's two-run homer off Colorado starter Jeff Hoffman. It was Grandal's 28th of the season.

Hoffman allowed just two runs but needed 95 pitches to get through five innings. He walked three and struck out four.

Milwaukee starter Adrian Houser struck out five and allowed just one hit over four innings.

Perez padded the lead with a solo shot, his eighth of the year, in the sixth inning off reliever Sam Howard.

The Rockies got a run in the seventh on Josh Fuentes' RBI single, Nunez hit a solo homer in the eighth and Valaika tied it in the ninth with a single.
