Michael Feliz pitched out of a fifth-inning jam to preserve a one-run lead, and Elias Diaz capped a two-RBI performance with a successful squeeze bunt Wednesday, lifting the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates to a 6-3 win over the San Francisco Giants.
Jose Osuna scored three times and Felipe Vazquez recorded his second save in three days, helping the Pirates (64-82) clinch the season series over the Giants (70-76) with a fourth win in six meetings.
The Pirates used RBI singles by Adam Frazier, Kevin Kramer and Colin Moran, and a sacrifice fly by Diaz, to build a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth.
However, the Giants knocked out Pirates starter Dario Agrazal with two hits, a walk and a run-scoring throwing error, narrowing the gap to 4-2 and putting the potential tying runs on base.
Feliz came on, and despite issuing two walks, including one to Mauricio Dubon that forced in a run, recorded a pair of strikeouts that closed the door on the San Francisco rally with the Giants still trailing 4-3.
Four other Pirates relievers combined for no-hit ball over the final four innings, capped by Vazquez's 1-2-3 effort in the ninth for his 27th save.
Vazquez began the week by getting into an altercation with teammate Kyle Crick in the Pirates clubhouse before the series opener. Crick wound up sustaining a season-ending finger injury.
The Pirates gave the bullpen an additional cushion with a run in the sixth on a Cole Tucker RBI double and another in the eighth on Diaz's RBI bunt.
Feliz (3-4) was credited with the win for his one inning of work after Agrazal went the first four-plus innings, charged with three runs (two earned) on three hits. He walked one and struck out two.
Giants starter Logan Webb (1-2), who allowed four runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, took the loss. He walked one and struck out four.
Frazier, Moran and Osuna had two hits apiece for the Pirates, who have begun a seven-game trip with two wins in three games after going 2-4 on a homestand last week.
Both of Osuna's hits were doubles.
Jaylin Davis had a single, an RBI and a run for the Giants, whose three hits were all singles.
