Trea Turner hit a two-run homer, and Matt Wieters added a three-run shot as the Washington Nationals defeated the New York Mets 6-0 on Saturday at Nationals Park.

The result came hours after the Nationals (78-77) were eliminated from postseason contention when the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the San Francisco Giants. Also, the Atlanta Braves clinched the National League East crown earlier in the day.

Turner hit his two-run shot in the third inning off starter Corey Oswalt (3-3). The home run went deep into the seats in left and also brought in Victor Robles, who had just led off the inning with a double, and it gave Washington an early 2-0 lead.

Wieters stretched things out a bit in the sixth. Anthony Rendon doubled with one out, and then with two outs, Jerry Blevins intentionally walked Ryan Zimmerman.

That turned out to be a bad move, as Wieters hit a three-run homer to left-center. The 394-foot blast broke things open and gave the Nationals a 5-0 lead.

Bryce Harper added to the lead in the seventh with an RBI double to right that made it 6-0. Harper has 98 RBIs this season.

The Mets (72-83) couldn't do much on offense as Washington starter Austin Voth (1-1) went five scoreless innings and earned his first major league victory. Voth came into the game with an 11.81 ERA in two appearances with the Nationals this season but allowed only a fourth-inning infield single to Michael Conforto.

Voth struck out five and walked two -- none after the first inning as he shut the Mets down.

In fact, the Mets finished with just the one hit. After Voth, Washington manager Dave Martinez used Matt Grace, Justin Miller, Jimmy Cordero and Austen Williams for an inning apiece -- and none of them allowed a hit.

Oswalt didn't pitch badly, giving up only the two runs on four hits in five innings. He struck out four and walked two.
