Mike Minor gave up one run in six innings, and Joey Gallo drove in three runs to lead the Texas Rangers to a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night in Anaheim, Calif.

Minor (12-7) allowed six hits and two walks, the Angels' only run against him coming on Jose Fernandez's RBI single in the fourth inning.

Texas' offense made the most of its seven hits, led by Gallo. The left fielder had a two-run double in the second inning and an RBI single in the eighth. The Rangers also got a two-run home run from Ronald Guzman.

Angels starter Jaime Barria entered the game averaging just 2.7 walks per nine innings, but he walked the first two Rangers batters he faced to start the second inning, and it cost him.

After the free passes to Adrian Beltre and Jurickson Profar, Gallo doubled home both runners for a 2-0 Texas lead. One out later, Guzman's homer, his 15th of the season, increased the lead to 4-0.

Barria (10-9) lasted just three innings, giving up four runs on three hits and four walks.

Minor held the Angels scoreless through three innings, but in the fourth, Los Angeles got on the scoreboard.

Shohei Ohtani led off with a double, stole third with one out and scored on a single by Fernandez as the Angels cut their deficit to 4-1.

With Minor out of the game after six innings, the Angels tried to take advantage of the Rangers' bullpen.

Texas reliever Connor Sadzeck retired the first two batters in the seventh inning before Mike Trout reached on an infield single and Justin Upton reached on a throwing error by the third baseman Profar.

Rangers manager Jeff Banister brought in left-hander Alex Claudio to face the left-handed-hitting Ohtani, who lined an RBI single to left field and cut Texas' lead to 4-2. Claudio, though, got Andrelton Simmons on a fly ball to center field to end the threat.

Texas got the run back in the top of the eighth inning on Gallo's RBI single that made it 5-2. Jose Leclerc pitched a scoreless ninth for his 10th save of the season.
