Adam Jones homered and drove in four runs, and Jonathan Schoop homered in a fifth consecutive game and had three RBIs as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the visiting Tampa Bay Rays 15-5 Friday night at Camden Yards.
Andrew Cashner (3-9) broke a four-game losing streak and won for the first time this season at home. It was his first victory since May 21.
Cashner allowed two runs on five hits in six innings and left with a 4-2 lead.
Chris Archer (3-5) started for the Rays in what might have been his final time on the mound with Tampa Bay as the trade deadline nears. Archer gave up four runs (three earned) in six innings before the Orioles broke things open in the seventh.
Baltimore led 4-3 when Schoop lined an RBI single off Austin Pruitt in the bottom of the seventh to make it 5-3. Jones then followed with his three-run shot to left-center.
Later in the inning, Joey Rickard lined a three-run double, and Schoop added his second RBI single of the frame as the Orioles made it 12-3. They scored eight runs in the inning, all charged to Pruitt.
Baltimore added three more in the eighth when the Rays used right fielder Carlos Gomez and catcher Jesus Sucre to pitch. The Rays, who went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position, got two back in the ninth.
The Rays jumped in front in the first inning, following a 79-minute rain delay. Ji-Man Choi drove in a run on a grounder to short for a 1-0 lead.
But the Orioles tied it in the bottom half on an RBI single from Jones. They then took the lead with two runs in the fourth.
Both runs came on the same play as Danny Valencia's single drove in Jones. Gomez tried to throw out Jones at home, but the ball sailed past catcher Michael Perez and into the Tampa Bay dugout.
The errant throw brought in another Baltimore run -- after an umpires' discussion and challenge from the Rays -- and made it 3-1. Schoop added his solo homer in the fifth to give Baltimore a 4-1 lead.
The Rays got single runs in the sixth (Daniel Robertson sacrifice fly) and the seventh (throwing error) that cut the Orioles' lead to 4-3.
