MILWAUKEE -- Keon Broxton blasted a pinch-hit home run, and Zach Davies bounced back from a rough outing his last time out to work into the seventh as the Milwaukee Brewers extended their winning streak to three games with a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday at Miller Park.

Davies (14-6) held the Pirates to one run, scattering six hits and two walks over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out two. Last Thursday against the Minnesota Twins, Davies gave up six runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Ivan Nova (10-10) went six innings and was charged with two runs (one earned), four hits and three walks while striking out four.

Travis Shaw, who began the day 10-for-13 against Nova, reached three times against him Tuesday and put the Brewers on the board when he singled and scored in the second inning.

Davies cruised through the first five innings but walked Andrew McCutchen to open the sixth. Josh Bell followed by hitting into a force at second, and after David Freese flied out, Adam Frazier tripled, tying the game at 1.

Milwaukee responded quickly, taking a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Manny Pina. Broxton provided a cushion in the seventh when he worked a full count against A.J. Schugel before going opposite field for his 17th home run of the season.

Starling Marte's second hit of the night chased Davies with two outs in the seventh. Jared Hughes retired Josh Harrison to get out of the inning. Jacob Barnes worked a perfect eighth, and Corey Knebel locked down his 23rd save with a scoreless ninth.
