L LOS ANGELES -- Don Mattingly had no clue Zack Greinke was carrying a scoreless-innings streak going until last weekend.

"I didn't even realize it until I read it or (saw) it on 'SportsCenter,'" the Los Angeles Dodgers manager said. "But I obviously knew going into this game."

Greinke blanked the Philadelphia Phillies for eight innings and extended his career-high scoreless run to 35 2/3 frames in the Dodgers' 6-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night at Dodger Stadium.

First baseman Adrian Gonzalez and right fielder Yasiel Puig homered as the Dodgers (49-38) captured three of four from the Phillies (29-59). Puig knocked in four runs.

Greinke was magnificent. He retired 24 of the 25 batters he faced, allowing only a leadoff single to Ryan Howard in the second inning. He was lifted for pinch hitter Alex Guerrero in the bottom of the eighth.

Reliever Joel Peralta worked a scoreless ninth for Los Angeles, allowing the Phillies' second hit of the night to center fielder Ben Revere.

Greinke (8-2) struck out eight and didn't walk a batter, throwing 94 pitches (63 strikes). He hasn't allowed a run since June 13, when he surrendered a pair in a 2-1 loss to the San Diego Padres.

"I don't think there's been a mistake behind me in the field in a couple of months," said Greinke, who lowered his major-league-leading ERA to 1.39. His scoreless string is the fourth-best in Los Angeles history, trailing Orel Hershiser (59 innings), Don Drysdale (58) and Clayton Kershaw (41). "Things are working. Just kind of staying in a rhythm, I guess. And there hasn't been any bad luck when that happens. Makes things a little easier."

Greinke's gem followed a complete-game shutout by Kershaw, who fanned 13 in a 5-0 win over the Phillies on Wednesday night. Mattingly said he replaced Greinke because he saw no reason for him to pitch the final inning.

"If (the score) had stayed at (4-0), we would have let Zack go back out," Mattingly said. "Once we got to six, it didn't seem like it was worth sending him back out."

Greinke wanted to finish the job.

"I did, but it didn't hurt my feelings not to," Greinke said.

Greinke added that he would like to start Tuesday's All-Star Game, but he wouldn't mind if National League manager Bruce Bochy selected another pitcher.

"My family might get excited about it, but it doesn't matter to me," Greinke said.

After scoring 14 runs in the initial two games of the series, Philadelphia's offense disappeared. The Phillies failed to score after outfielder Jeff Francoeur homered in the seventh inning Tuesday in a 7-2 win over the Dodgers. The drought covered 20 innings.

"I think people will start getting more hits off me in the second half," Greinke said, "but I just try to keep making quality pitches and not (allow) doubles and homers. Making quality pitches makes it harder to drive the ball."

Phillies starter Severino Gonzalez allowed four runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 5 2/3 innings. Gonzalez (3-3) also hit a batter.

"I just wanted to make sure to do what I had been told, to keep the ball down," Gonzalez said via an interpreter. "That's what I was trying to concentrate on the whole game, making sure my pitches were down. In the past, I've been hurt when my pitches were up."

Puig, who batted .184 in his previous 15 games, ripped a two-run double down the left field line with two outs in the fourth. The hit scored catcher Yasmani Grandal and left fielder Andre Ethier, giving the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

In the sixth, Adrian Gonzalez hit his 17th home run, driving an off-speed pitch from Severino Gonzalez off the foul pole in right for a two-run shot and a 4-0 Los Angeles advantage.

Puig ended his homerless drought in the eighth with a two-run blast to left-center. It was the first long ball for Puig since June 10. He has four home runs this season.

NOTES: Los Angeles LHP Clayton Kershaw's bid for his fifth consecutive All-Star selection appeared to be in jeopardy Thursday. Kershaw remained in fourth place in fan voting behind Cincinnati Reds RHP Johnny Cueto, St. Louis Cardinals RHP Carlos Martinez and Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki for the final spot on the NL team.
