Lagares led off the eighth with a blast to left field off Tyler Clippard on a 0-2 pitch, but Span drilled a two-out RBI double to left to forge a tie in the ninth off Bobby Parnell.

Lagares and Wright singled before Brown took a 2-2 fastball from Strasburg into the left-center field seats with two outs in the first inning for a 3-0 lead. LaRoche answered with his two-run blast to right in the second before Eric Young Jr. lofted a sacrifice fly to plate Travis d’Arnaud in the bottom of the frame for New York.
