Blue Jays 4, Brewers 1: Jose Bautista and Colby Rasmus each belted solo homers as Toronto defeated visiting Milwaukee in the opener of a two-game interleague series.

Drew Hutchison (6-6) retired the first 14 batters he faced and allowed one run on three hits with a career-high 10 strikeouts over seven innings. Melky Cabrera and Edwin Encarnacion each added an insurance RBI in the eighth before Casey Janssen notched his 13th save in the ninth as the Blue Jays snapped a three-game slide.

Ryan Braun doubled home the only run for the Brewers, who have lost two straight after a four-game winning streak. Milwaukee starter Marco Estrada (7-5), who has given up a major league-high 26 homers, yielded two runs and six hits in six-plus innings.

Bautista, in the starting lineup for the first time in seven games due to a hamstring injury, hammered a 3-2 pitch from Estrada into the center-field seats for his 16th blast in the opening inning. Rasmus launched his 12th homer to right field on a 0-1 pitch to lead off the fifth.

The Brewers pulled within a run on Braun’s double into the right-field corner in the sixth, but left the bases loaded in the seventh. Cabrera lined a triple into the right-center field gap to score pinch-runner Darin Mastroianni and came home on Encarnacion’s double off the center-field wall.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Blue Jays, who hosted the Brewers for the first time since 2005, improved to 13-23 all-time on Canada Day. … Milwaukee C Jonathan Lucroy went 0-for-3 with a walk as his seven-game hitting streak came to an end. … Brewers LF Khris Davis, who had the first hit off Hutchison in the fifth, left the game with a left shoulder strain in the middle of the seventh inning after diving into second base safely following a rundown.
