Padres 2, Brewers 1 (12):
Chase Headley led off the 12th inning with a home run off Alfredo Figaro and visiting San Diego snapped Milwaukee’s four-game winning streak.

Rookie Donn Roach (1-0) recorded his first career win with two scoreless innings and Huston Street retired the Brewers in order in the 12th for his seventh save. Figaro (0-1) allowed two hits over three innings in his season debut for Milwaukee, which has played four consecutive one-run games.

Headley went 2-for-4 and Chris Denorfia added three hits for San Diego, which ended a two-game losing skid. Milwaukee, which went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 runners, threatened to break the game open early but stranded two runners in the second inning and left the bases loaded in the third against Padres starter Ian Kennedy.

Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo cruised through the first four innings before running into trouble in the fifth, when Yonder Alonso led off with a double and moved to third on Denorfia’s infield single. Alonso scored when Kennedy’s safety squeeze bunt landed in front of Gallardo, who yielded one run on five hits over seven frames.

The Brewers answered in the bottom half of the fifth on Scooter Gennett’s solo homer off Kennedy, who allowed one run on four hits over six innings. Kennedy needed 73 pitches in the first three innings before settling in and throwing 27 over the next three frames.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brewers OF Carlos Gomez is appealing his three-game suspension for his role in Sunday’s benches-clearing brawl with the Pirates, while C Martin Maldonado began serving his five-game suspension on Tuesday. … The Padres acquired INF Tyler Greene from Atlanta for a player to be named later and assigned him to Triple-A El Paso. … The Padres’ first three hitters – Everth Cabrera, Will Venable and Yasmani Grandal – were a combined 0-for-15.
