Mariners 2, Angels 1 (11): Austin Jackson beat the relay on a potential double-play ball, allowing Brad Miller to score from third in the bottom of the 11th inning as host Seattle stayed alive in the wild-card mix by beating Los Angeles.

Miller doubled with one out in the 11th off Mike Morin (4-4) and moved to third on Chris Taylor’s bloop single to center. Vinnie Pestano entered and induced Jackson to hit a grounder to second but Grant Green elected against throwing home and tried for a double play, and Jackson beat the relay throw to first.

Dominic Leone (8-2) pitched the 11th to complete 5 1/3 scoreless innings from the Seattle bullpen. The victory moves the Mariners one game behind Oakland for the American League’s second wild-card spot with one to play.

Seattle had an earlier chance to win when it loaded the bases with none out in the ninth but Angels reliever Jason Grilli struck out Miller and Taylor and retired Jackson on fly to right. Angels starter C.J. Wilson gave up one run and four hits in six-plus innings, while Seattle’s James Paxton allowed one run and four hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Los Angeles struck in the second when David Freese doubled and scored on C.J. Cron’s two-out infield hit. The Mariners tied it in the seventh when Kyle Seager drew a leadoff walk and scored on Logan Morrison’s double into the right-center field gap.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles CF Mike Trout was 0-for-3 with a walk before exiting and still has 111 RBIs, second in the majors behind Adrian Gonzalez (113) of the Los Angeles Dodgers. … Seattle 2B Robinson Cano was hitless in four at-bats and is 1-for-14 over the last four games. … Angels 2B Howie Kendrick went 2-for-4 for the third straight game.
