Rangers 12, Angels 3: Jake Smolinski belted a two-run homer and Lisalverto Bonilla scattered two hits over five innings as visiting Texas extended its season-high winning streak to seven games.

Ryan Rua had an RBI single among his four hits and matched Daniel Robertson and Leonys Martin by scoring twice. Adrian Beltre joined Smolinski and Robertson by driving in a pair of runs for the Rangers, who posted just their fourth win in 17 meetings against American League West-champion Los Angeles.

Hector Santiago (5-9) was blitzed for seven runs on as many hits in one inning for the Angels, who remained 2 1/2 games ahead of AL East-champion Baltimore in the race for home-field advantage throughout the postseason. David Freese recorded his team's first hit with a double to lead off the fifth inning before scoring on Brennan Boesch's mammoth two-run homer.

Adam Rosales opened the scoring in the first inning before Smolinski deposited a 1-1 fastball from Santiago over the wall in left-center field for his second homer. Texas kept the pressure on in the second as Robinson and Martin had back-to-back RBI singles before the former scored on a wild pitch while the latter crossed the plate on Elvis Andrus' sacrifice fly.

Making his second career start, Bonilla (2-0) allowed two runs and issued four walks for the second straight outing before exiting after 85 pitches. C.J. Cron's RBI double trimmed Texas' lead to 10-3 in the seventh, but Robinson Chirinos responded with one of his own and Rua added an RBI single to close out the scoring in the ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles pulled CF Mike Trout, RF Kole Calhoun, 1B Albert Pujols, SS Erick Aybar and Freese to begin the seventh inning in an effort to keep some of the starters fresh prior to the postseason. ... Smolinski, who collected four hits on Thursday, is 7-for-18 with two homers, five RBIs and four runs scored since coming off the disabled list. ... Santiago has surrendered at least one homer in six straight appearances.
