Angels 7, Twins 6 (10): Erick Aybar hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly to right in the 10th inning as visiting Los Angeles defeated Minnesota for the second straight night.

Kole Calhoun singled off Jared Burton (2-4) and stole second and the bases were loaded when Aybar’s fly drove in Calhoun for his fourth run scored of the game. Mike Trout drove in two runs to reach 100 RBIs on the season as the Angels won for the eighth time in 10 games and moved six games ahead of the Oakland Athletics in the American League West.

Minnesota was one out away from losing in the ninth until Trevor Plouffe smacked a two-run double off Huston Street (2-1), a ball that hit the wall just beyond the reach of Trout in left-center field to tie the score at 6-6. The Twins were unable to duplicate the rally in the 10th against Kevin Jepsen, who notched his second save while sending Minnesota to its 10th loss in 13 games.

Three consecutive singles – the last by Chris Iannetta – saw the Angels take a 2-1 lead in the third inning. Minnesota tied it in the bottom of the inning when Oswaldo Arcia hit a leadoff blast to right before Trout’s run-scoring single in the fourth put Los Angeles back ahead.

The Twins tied it in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Aaron Hicks and took a 4-3 lead in the sixth when Hicks laced a ground single to center. Calhoun’s two-run double put Los Angeles ahead in the eighth and Trout doubled Calhoun home for his 100th RBI of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Angels LF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) was held out one day after departing a game early due to the soreness. … Twins starter Ricky Nolasco gave up three runs (two earned) and eight hits in five innings while counterpart Matt Shoemaker allowed three runs and six hits in four innings. … Los Angeles general manager Jerry Dipoto had his club option picked up and will return for the 2015 season.
