Athletics 10, Angels 9 (11): Josh Donaldson collected three hits, including a go-ahead RBI double in the top of the 11th inning, as visiting Oakland edged Los Angeles for the second straight night.

Jed Lowrie (one RBI) singled for his third hit to lead off the 11th off Yoslan Herrera (0-1) and came all the way around on Donaldson’s liner down the left-field line. Craig Gentry contributed three hits while Eric Sogard and Derek Norris each knocked in two runs as Oakland won for the eighth time in nine games.

Mike Trout knocked in three with three hits, including a two-run homer that tied it in the bottom of the ninth, and Kole Calhoun belted a two-run home run among three hits for Los Angeles. Jim Johnson (2-2) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory, getting Howie Kendrick to ground out with runners at second and third to end it.

Chris Iannetta doubled in two in the fourth and scored on Calhoun’s blast into the right-field seats for a 6-3 lead. The Athletics scored two in the seventh and put the first five on base against Joe Smith in the eighth before RBI singles from Brandon Moss and Alberto Callaspo followed by a two-run pinch-hit single by Norris made it 9-6.

Oakland could not add to the lead with the bases still loaded and none out, and David Freese singled home a run in the Angels’ half of the eighth. Calhoun’s base hit led off the ninth and Trout hammered a 2-1 pitch from reliever Sean Doolittle over the center-field wall to tie it at 9.
