Angels 6, Marlins 1: Mike Trout homered among two RBIs and Josh Hamilton doubled in a run as Los Angeles took the rubber match of a three-game series from visiting Miami.

Gordon Beckham hit his first home run since joining the team as the Angels maintained a one-game lead over the Oakland Athletics in the American League West. Hector Santiago (4-7) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six in 5 2/3 innings to snap a four-start winless streak.

Adeiny Hechavarria hit his first homer of the season for the Marlins, who have dropped four of five to fall two games under .500 (65-67). Henderson Alvarez (10-6) was reached for five runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings to end a string of four straight wins.

Hechavarria led off the third inning and turned around a 3-2 fastball, sending it out to straightaway center for his first home run since Sep. 4, 2013. Los Angeles wasted no time taking the lead in the bottom of the frame as Trout’s single pushed across the tying run before Albert Pujols added an RBI groundout and Hamilton’s double to center chased home Trout and capped the three-run rally.

Beckham, whose infield hit started the rally in the third and marked his first hit since joining the team in a trade from Chicago last week, sent a solo blast into the bullpen in left in the fourth. Trout became the fifth player in AL history to record two 30-homer seasons by his age-22 season with a shot to straightaway center in the seventh.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Pujols was lifted for a pinch runner in the seventh due to an apparent injury suffered on a swing. … The Angels (79-53) exceeded their win total from 2013 (78-84) with the victory. … The Marlins get Thursday off before continuing their road trip at Atlanta while Los Angeles hosts Oakland for the start of a four-game series.
