Angels 6, Royals 1: Chris Iannetta and Mike Trout homered in support of 6 1/3 strong innings from C.J. Wilson as Los Angeles took the opener of a three-game series from visiting Kansas City.

Erick Aybar drove in a run and scored twice and Grant Green added two hits and an RBI for the Angels, who have won three straight and 11 of their last 14. Wilson (6-3) surrendered one run on four hits and four walks to earn his fifth quality start in six turns.

Danny Duffy (2-4), who allowed a total of two runs and six hits in his three previous starts, started for the Royals and was knocked around for five runs on nine hits in six innings. Norichika Aoki recorded three hits and Alex Gordon drove in the run for Kansas City.

Aoki led off the game with a single to center and stole second before moving up on a passed ball and scoring on Gordon’s two-out single to right. Los Angeles got that run back in the second when Iannetta ripped Duffy’s 2-1 fastball out to left-center, and took the lead later in the frame when Aybar beat Aoki’s throw to the plate on Collin Cowgill’s RBI single to right.

Trout led off the third and sent a 2-2 changeup well over the wall in left-center for his ninth home run and a 3-1 lead. Aybar singled in a run and scored on Green’s double off the right-field wall in the sixth, and the Angels tacked on another run on C.J. Cron’s RBI single in the seventh.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles LHP Sean Burnett (elbow surgery) was activated from the DL and utilityman Efren Navarro was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake. Burnett pitched to one batter and recorded the final out of the seventh inning. … Angels RF Josh Hamilton (thumb) was scratched from a rehab appearance due to lingering soreness after getting jammed with a pitch in his final at-bat for Salt Lake on Thursday. … Royals C Brett Hayes made his fourth consecutive start in place of Salvador Perez (right hand), who remains day-to-day.
