Indians 4, Angels 3: Asdrubal Cabrera and Carlos Santana each homered and Trevor Bauer pitched into the seventh inning as Cleveland edged visiting Los Angeles in the opener of a four-game series.

Bauer (2-3) allowed three runs and issued four walks while throwing a career-high 119 pitches over 6 2/3 innings, and Carlos Carrasco worked 2 1/3 scoreless frames for his first career save. Michael Bourn went 2-for-4 and scored two runs for the Indians, who have won three straight one-run contests following a four-game losing streak.

Bourn drew a leadoff walk in the first and scored on Cabrera’s homer just over the left-center field wall off Jered Weaver (7-6), who yielded four runs over six frames and lost for the first time in 10 career starts at Cleveland. Weaver has posted a 5.52 ERA over his last five outings for the Angels, who have lost four of their last five.

Chris Iannetta pulled the Angels even with a two-run double in the second before the Indians regained the lead on Michael Brantley’s RBI single in the third. Brantley is 15-for-28 during his eight-game hitting streak for the Indians, who have won a season-high 10 consecutive home games.

Raul Ibanez scored on John McDonald’s sacrifice fly in the fourth to even the score, but Santana began the bottom half by depositing Weaver’s 2-2 offering deep into the right-field seats for his second homer in the last four games. Santana is 10-for-20 with two home runs in his career against Weaver.

House to Triple-A Columbus and recalled RHP Mark Lowe. … McDonald went 0-for-2 while starting at shortstop in place of Erick Aybar, who missed the game with a sore hip and is listed as day-to-day. … Weaver has allowed 14 homers in 95 2/3 innings this season.
