Angels 2, Red Sox 0: Matt Shoemaker took a no-hitter into the seventh and Josh Hamilton doubled in a run as visiting Los Angeles completed a four-game sweep of Boston.

Shoemaker (12-4), who worked three scoreless innings in relief to earn a win over the Red Sox in a 19-inning contest Aug. 9, ran his hitless innings streak against Boston to 9 2/3 frames before yielding a double to Will Middlebrooks. The right-hander recorded nine strikeouts in 7 2/3 one-hit innings as the Angels moved two games ahead of the Oakland Athletics in the American League West.

Howie Kendrick and Erick Aybar added three hits apiece as Los Angeles won for the eighth time in nine games and completed its first four-game sweep at Fenway Park since 1962. Rubby De La Rosa (4-5) started for the Red Sox and allowed two runs and eight hits while striking out eight in 6 2/3 innings.

Kole Calhoun singled leading off the game and advanced on a groundout before Hamilton’s double to the wall in left pushed across the first run. Shoemaker hit Brock Holt with a pitch leading off the first before retiring the next 20 batters in a row.

Aybar added some insurance when he led off the seventh with a ground-rule double and stole third before scoring on Calhoun’s sacrifice fly to left. Mike Morin came on to retire the final batter of the eighth and Jason Grilli worked a perfect ninth for his 12th save of the season and first since joining the Angels.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Angels 1B Albert Pujols and manager Mike Scioscia were ejected in the sixth inning for arguing balls and strikes. … Boston LF Yoenis Cespedes was lifted in the fourth inning due to personal reasons. … Los Angeles learned RHP Garrett Richards would miss 6-to-9 months with a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, and the club acquired INF Gordon Beckham from the Chicago White Sox for a player to be named or cash.
