Orioles 6, Reds 0:
Miguel Gonzalez threw a four-hitter for his first career shutout and was backed by three home runs as Baltimore notched its eight straight series win at home.

Jonathan Schoop homered and drove in three runs, Chris Davis belted a two-run shot and David Lough added a solo blast to push the Orioles (81-57) a season-high 24 games over .500. Gonzalez (8-7) struck out a season-high eight and retired 21 of the first 23 batters he faced for the American League East leaders, who own a 9 1/2-game bulge over the New York Yankees.

Dylan Axelrod (1-1) lasted six innings and gave up four runs on five hits, including all three homers, as reeling Cincinnati lost for the 15th time in 21 games. The Reds managed only four singles and have mustered 10 runs over their last five games.

Schoop snapped a scoreless deadlock in the third inning with a mammoth 446-foot blast to the back of the Reds bullpen in left-center. The Orioles continued to ride the long ball in the fourth, getting a leadoff blast from Lough before Davis followed Nelson's Cruz's double with an opposite-field shot for a 4-0 edge.

Schoop tacked on some insurance in the seventh against reliever Carlos Contreras, ripping a two-run double into the left-field corner. Gonzalez ran into trouble in the eighth following an error by first baseman Davis, but escaped a based-loaded jam by getting Todd Frazier to ground out.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Orioles DH Cruz became the 10th player in franchise history with at least 35 homers and 25 doubles in a season. ... Reds 2B Brandon Phillips was hitless in four at-bats and is 2-for-32 over his last eight games. ... Gonzalez has allowed two runs or fewer in eight of his last nine starts for the Orioles, who go for a three-game sweep in Thursday's series finale.
