Blue Jays 4, Orioles 0: Drew Hutchison pitched seven strong innings and Juan Francisco hit a two-run homer as visiting Toronto defeated Baltimore.

Hutchison (5-4) allowed six hits and struck out three without a walk but exited when the game was delayed 21 minutes by rain at the end of the seventh inning. It marked the third time in his last six starts the right-hander didn’t allow a run.

The Blue Jays had just four hits, but one of them was Francisco’s home run as they won for only the second time in seven games. Anthony Gose scored on a wild pitch, Jose Bautista added a run-scoring single and Dustin McGowan struck out three in 1 2/3 innings to notch his first save and wrap up Toronto’s ninth shutout of the season.

Ubaldo Jimenez (2-8) pitched well, giving up two runs and three hits in six innings while losing his fourth consecutive decision. The right-hander issued five walks and was helped by two double plays but didn’t receive any run support as the Orioles were blanked for the sixth time this year.

Brett Lawrie drew a one-out walk from Jimenez in the second and Francisco followed with a blast over the center-field fence. The rains came to temporarily halt the contest and Baltimore reliever Tommy Hunter struggled after play resumed, throwing the run-scoring wild pitch and allowing Bautista’s single to center.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Baltimore Triple-A RHP Eddie Gamboa was suspended 50 games on Friday for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance and immediately began serving the penalty. … Blue Jays LHP Brett Cecil exited in the eighth inning due to groin tightness. … Orioles 3B Manny Machado went 3-for-4 and also will be available for the final two games of this series as his appeal of a five-game suspension for his role in Sunday’s benches-clearing incident against Oakland won’t be heard until next week.
