Twins 4, Marlins 3 (1st): Rookie Oswaldo Arcia belted his first career homer - a three-run blast in the fourth inning - as Minnesota edged visiting Miami in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.

Brian Dozier contributed three hits and Justin Morneau had a single and an RBI for the Twins, who won their fifth straight. Minnesota starter Kevin Correia (2-1) gave up five hits and two runs over seven innings to earn the victory and Glen Perkins struck out the side in the ninth for his sixth save.

Joe Mahoney registered two hits and two RBIs for the Marlins, who have dropped three straight and five of their last six. Miami starter Jose Fernandez (0-2) allowed six hits and four runs in five innings.

Dozier led off the first with a triple and scored on a fielder’s choice grounder by Morneau for a 1-0 lead. Greg Dobbs singled with two outs in the fourth, moved to third on Justin Ruggiano’s double and both scored on Mahoney’s single as Miami moved in front 2-1.

Chris Parmelee and Trevor Plouffe each singled in the fourth to set the stage for Arcia, a 21-year old from Venezuela, who homered to right field on the first pitch from Fernandez for a 4-2 lead. Juan Pierre doubled and later scored on a Dobbs groundout with the bases loaded to pull Miami within 4-3 in the eighth.
