Blue Jays 6, Rays 3: R.A. Dickey pitched effectively into the eighth inning and Moises Sierra knocked in a pair of runs as host Toronto beat sloppy Tampa Bay.

Dickey (14-13) overcame a pair of early homers, allowing no other runs while scattering five hits over 7 1/3 innings. Ryan Goins added a pair of hits and drove in the go-ahead run in Toronto's four-run fourth inning.

Jeremy Hellickson (12-10) was charged with six runs - three earned - on six hits over 4 2/3 innings and was hurt by Tampa Bay's season-high three errors. The loss dropped Tampa Bay into a tie with Cleveland for the two American League wild card berths, one game ahead of Texas.

Tampa Bay used the longball to jump ahead, getting a solo shot from Ben Zobrist in the first inning and Delmon Young's 100th career homer in the second. Toronto trimmed the deficit on Sierra's RBI single to right in the fourth, Anthony Gose followed with a bloop hit to center that scored Brett Lawrie and Goins hit a single up the middle that center fielder Sam Fuld missed completely, allowing Sierra and Gose to score.

Lawrie and Sierra extended the lead with run-scoring singles in the fifth, and Dickey took over from there. The National League Cy Young Award winner left to a standing ovation from the Rogers Centre crowd despite loading the bases with one out in the eighth, but reliever Sergio Santos needed just one pitch to end the threat by inducing a James Loney double-play grounder.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tampa Bay is second in the majors in fewest errors with 59, seven more than the Baltimore Orioles. ... Dickey surrendered 35 home runs on the season, one shy of Woody Williams' franchise record set in 1998. ... The Rays lead the season series 10-7.
