Nationals 6, Pirates 2: Tyler Moore and Danny Espinosa each homered and drove in three runs while Gio Gonzalez logged only his second quality start over his last five outings as visiting Washington took two of three from Pittsburgh.

Espinosa, who entered Sunday with a .180 average and seven RBIs in 25 games, went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and a tiebreaking two-run homer in the fourth. Moore, a .171 hitter filling in for injured Jayson Werth, added an insurance three-run blast in the eighth.

Gonzalez (3-2) turned in his first strong outing in three road starts, allowing two runs and five hits over six frames while fanning five. Wandy Rodriguez (2-2) struck out a season-high seven in six innings, but gave up his first three runs at home after tossing 13 2/3 scoreless innings at PNC Park.

After Marte homered for the fourth time in five games to lead off the bottom of the first, Espinosa delivered the Nationals’ fourth sacrifice fly over their last two games to even it in the second. In his next at-bat, Espinosa crushed a 2-2 hanging curveball for Washington’s first homer of the series.

Russell Martin closed the gap to 3-2 in the sixth with an RBI double, but the Nationals put the game away in the eighth when Roger Bernadina reached on a bunt single off reliever Bryan Morris. The Pirates opted to intentionally walk Adam LaRoche and Moore followed with his first home run of the season to seal it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nationals LF Bryce Harper was ejected by third-base umpire John Hirschbeck for arguing a check-swing call following a strikeout in his first at-bat. He was replaced by Bernadina, who finished 2-for-4. … Gonzalez was 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA over his first two road starts. … Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen went 0-for-4 and saw his 17-game hitting streak against the Nationals snapped.
