The All-Star then jumped on a 2-2 slider from Greg Burke (0-2) and ripped the ball off the glove of third baseman David Wright and into left field to plate Travis Snider and give the Pirates their first lead. Russell Martin worked a four-pitch walk with the bases loaded two batters later to double the advantage.

Reliever Justin Wilson (6-1) picked up the win after allowing one hit in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Mark Melancon retired the side in order in the eighth before closer Jason Grilli did the same in the ninth for his 29th save.

Marlon Byrd had an RBI single and scored a run while Daniel Murphy extended his hitting streak to seven games in the fifth and also scored a run. Wright went 0-for-5 to see his 12-game hitting streak come to an end for the Mets, who have dropped two in a row following a four-game winning stretch.

Jordy Mercer, who had the walk-off hit in Friday's 3-2 triumph in 11 innings, delivered an RBI single in the fifth. Clint Barmes added two hits for the Pirates.
