Mets 10, Nationals 1
: Marlon Byrd homered twice to pace a 15-hit attack and Dillon Gee was strong through seven innings as visiting New York snapped a four-game slide.

Byrd hit a two-run shot off Washington starter Dan Haren in the top of the second inning and added a solo shot in the third as the Mets raced to an early 5-1 lead. David Wright had a two-run homer, Anthony Recker drove in three runs and Gee helped himself out with an RBI single during a three-run seventh as New York produced its largest margin of victory since April 12.

Gee (4-6) scattered nine hits while allowing just one run for the second straight start, striking out seven in the process. He has yielded two runs and fanned 19 in 14 1/3 innings over his last two outings, all on the heels of a three-start slump in which his ERA was 8.36.

Haren (4-7) was knocked around for five runs on seven hits in four innings, matching his shortest start of the year. He surrendered three home runs for the first time since serving up four at Colorado on June 9, 2012.

Ian Desmond's RBI single gave the Nationals a 1-0 lead after one frame. Byrd sandwiched his homers around Wright's eighth of the season and Recker knocked in a pair of runs with a single in the fifth and one more with a double in the seventh that scored Byrd.
