Athletics 18, Twins 3: Stephen Vogt belted a two-run homer to cap a 10-run fourth inning and Jed Lowrie also went deep and drove in four runs as visiting Oakland emphatically strengthened its hold on first place in the American League West.

Coco Crisp homered and Vogt joined Daric Barton and Brandon Moss with three hits while matching Yoenis Cespedes with three RBIs. Eight players recorded multi-hit performances as the Athletics posted a season high in both runs and hits (22) to increase their division lead over Texas to three games.

Sonny Gray (3-3) benefited from the offensive onslaught to post his first road victory. The rookie allowed two runs on four hits and struck out seven in five innings.

Oakland held a 3-1 advantage before sending 13 batters to plate and collecting 10 hits in the lopsided frame. Vogt and Eric Sogard chased starter Mike Pelfrey (5-12) with RBI singles before Josh Donaldson had a run-scoring base hit. Lowrie and Cespedes added two-run doubles to end an ineffective relief appearance by Josh Roenicke.

Ryan Pressly tried to stop the bleeding, but Barton gave Oakland an 11-1 lead with an RBI single before Vogt deposited a 2-1 fastball over the wall in right field for his fourth homer of the season.
