Pirates 2, Brewers 1 (14):
Russell Martin drove the winning run with a pinch-hit single in the 14th inning to send host Pittsburgh to its ninth consecutive victory.

Martin's sixth career walk-off hit came against Francisco Rodriguez (1-1) and plated Gaby Sanchez as the Pirates improved to a major league-best 51-30 with their longest winning streak since a 10-game run in 2004. The marathon contest ended more than 6 1/2 hours after it started and featured a rain delay of 2 hours, 20 minutes in the second inning.

Tony Watson (2-1) struck out four over three hitless innings to cap a magnificent effort by Pittsburgh's bullpen, which saw six relievers combine for 12 scoreless innings of two-hit ball to extend the Pirates' lead to two games over St. Louis atop the National League Central. Vin Mazzaro pitched five perfect innings after taking over for starter Charlie Morton to begin the third.

Andrew McCutchen delivered a tying RBI single in the eighth and Starling Marte had a pair of hits and scored a run for Pittsburgh, which left the bases loaded in the ninth and 13th innings.

Logan Schafer's squeeze bunt in the top of the second inning accounted for the only run for Milwaukee, which tumbled to its fifth straight defeat to fall a season-worst 16 games below .500. Schafer also made a spectacular leaping catch to rob Sanchez of a tying homer in the seventh inning

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pirates 3B Pedro Alvarez went 0-for-6 to see his hitting streak end at 12 games. ... Brewers RHP John Axford retired the only batter he faced to extend his string of scoreless appearances to 22 in a row. ... Milwaukee continues its road trip with a four-game series beginning Monday night at Washington while Pittsburgh had a day off before hosting Philadelphia in a three-game series.
