Rangers 6, Angels 5: Jurickson Profar belted a pinch-hit homer to lead off the ninth inning and keep host Texas in the running for the wild card.

Profar's walk-off blast against Michael Kohn (1-4) kept the Rangers one game behind Cleveland for the second wild card with three games to play. Closer Joe Nathan (6-2) escaped a huge jam in the top of the ninth, striking out two with a runner at third base to keep the game tied.

Leonys Martín had a two-run double and Adrian Beltre and A.J. Pierzynski added RBI singles to lift Texas to its fourth consecutive victory. Matt Garza labored through 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs - one earned - on 11 hits, while Jerome Williams allowed three runs on nine hits over five innings for Los Angeles.

The Rangers erased a 1-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the first, receiving RBI singles from Beltre and Pierzynski and a sacrifice fly from Mitch Moreland. They handed the lead back in a sloppy second inning, committing all four errors with two outs - two by second baseman Ian Kinsler - to allow the Angels to go ahead 4-3 on Mike Trout's infield single and Beltre's wild throw.

Martín ended a string of 21 straight singles by both teams with a two-run double in the sixth for a 5-4 Texas lead, but Los Angeles pulled even in its next at-bat on Kole Calhoun's leadoff triple and Mark Trumbo's single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The four-error debacle in the second inning matched the total committed by Texas' infield over the previous 18 games. ... Angels LF J.B. Shuck came out of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning due to a sprained right ankle and was replaced by Collin Cowgill. ... Martin has eight RBIs in the last four games for the Rangers, who surpassed three million in attendance with three home games remaining.
