Phillies 2, Marlins 1: Darin Ruf and Kevin Frandsen each recorded RBIs in the first inning and five pitchers held the lead as visiting Philadelphia snapped a five-game losing streak.

Jimmy Rollins registered a double and scored a run while Chase Utley added a single, two walks and a run scored for the Phillies, who evened the series at a game apiece. Michael Stutes (3-1) struck out one in a scoreless fifth inning to get the victory and Jonathan Papelbon worked around a two-out hit to notch his 29th save in the ninth.

Justin Ruggiano collected an RBI double and a single for the Marlins, who have dropped 12 of 18 to the Phillies this season. Miami starter Henderson Alvarez (4-6) allowed two runs and five hits over seven innings with five strikeouts and belted his third double of the season.

Rollins doubled with one out and scored on Ruf’s bases-loaded walk before Frandsen’s RBI groundout gave the Phillies a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Giancarlo Stanton singled to lead off the second and scored on Ruggiano’s two-base hit to deep center field, cutting the deficit in half.

Christian Yelich led off the sixth with a single for the Marlins and reached second on an errant pickoff attempt, but J.C. Ramirez retired the next three batters. Ramirez pitched two scoreless innings and Jacob Diekman worked around a one-out single by Ed Lucas in the eighth as the Phillies maintained their one-run lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Philadelphia starter Zach Miner yielded one run and four hits over the four innings while adding a single for his first hit since 2006 with Detroit. Miner is 2-for-12 in his career. … The Marlins reached 100 losses for the first time since 1998, when they finished a franchise-worst 54-108. … The Phillies improved to 36-35 against National League East opponents.
