Rays 7, Marlins 6: Desmond Jennings collected three hits – including a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth with two outs – as Tampa Bay handed visiting Miami its seventh straight loss.

Yunel Escobar tallied three hits and two RBIs, Jose Lobaton added two hits and two RBIs and Luke Scott had three hits for Tampa Bay. Kelly Johnson and Evan Longoria singled to start the final inning and Jennings drilled a sinker from Chad Qualls to right field to give the win to Fernando Rodney (2-2), who pitched a perfect ninth.

Chris Coghlan homered and knocked in three runs while Marcell Ozuna had two hits and scored three times to extend his hitting streak to 13 games for the Marlins. Mike Dunn (1-1) surrendered five hits and two runs over 1 2/3 innings to suffer the loss.

Tampa Bay starter Jeremy Hellickson retired the first two batters in the third before the Marlins scored three times on an RBI triple by Derek Dietrich and a two-run triple by Coghlan for a 4-0 lead. The Rays pulled within 4-2 in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly by Matt Joyce and Johnson’s RBI double off the center-field wall.

Coghlan’s solo homer in the sixth pushed the lead to 5-3, but Lobaton answered with a two-run double down the left-field line in the bottom of the frame to tie the game. Greg Dobbs’ RBI single put the Marlins up 6-5 briefly in the eighth before Escobar’s RBI single knotted it again in the bottom half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hellickson allowed seven hits and five runs while Miami’s Kevin Slowey yielded eight hits and four runs. Both starters lasted 5 1/3 innings. … Coghlan is 12-for-33 with four walks over the last 10 games. … The teams will meet in Miami on Wednesday and Thursday to complete the home-and-home Citrus Series. Tampa Bay has won 11 of the last 12 meetings.
