Carl Crawford and Matt Kemp also had two hits apiece for the Dodgers, who have won back-to-back games for the first time since April 25-26. Los Angeles starter Chris Capuano (1-2) allowed one run and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings - his longest outing since Sept. 8 - and relievers Kenley Jansen and Brandon League combined to record the final eight outs.

Miami starter Tom Koehler (0-1), who was making his first start of the season and second of his career, went five innings, allowing two runs and seven hits. Justin Ruggiano had two hits for the Marlins, including a solo home run off Capuano in the sixth inning, and Adeiny Hechavarria had a two-run double with two outs in the ninth to cut the deficit to 5-3.

Van Slyke, who was leading the Pacific Coast League with a .397 average and nine home runs when he was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, started at first base in place of Adrian Gonzalez, who re-aggravated a strained neck Saturday night. Van Slyke homered to center in the second inning for a 1-0 lead.

The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in the fourth after Skip Schumaker doubled with one out, took third on a single by Tim Federowicz and came home on a sacrifice fly by Nick Punto. Los Angeles added three more runs in the seventh, sandwiching RBI singles from Crawford and Van Slyke around a sacrifice fly by Andre Ethier.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kemp’s first base hit extended his hitting streak to 11 games and his second gave him 1,000 for his career. … Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna threw out Kemp at third base in the second inning, giving him three assists on the season and tying him for the lead among National League right fielders. … Capuano and Koehler each threw 79 pitches.
