Brewers 3, Astros 1: Rickie Weeks belted a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning and visiting Milwaukee tied up the series at one game apiece.

Weeks, starting in the leadoff spot for the first time in over a year, hit his sixth homer into the seats in left off reliever Hector Ambriz (1-4) to hand Houston only its second loss in seven games. Aramis Ramirez provided an insurance run with a solo blast in the ninth.

Brewers right-hander Kyle Lohse went six strong innings, permitting a first-inning run and six hits while striking out five and walking two. John Axford (3-3) and Jim Henderson followed with a scoreless inning apiece before Francisco Rodriguez worked out of a ninth-inning jam for his fifth save of the season and 299th of his career.

Astros starter Erik Bedard was sensational in his longest outing of the year, matching his season high with eight strikeouts and allowing one run on four hits in 7 1/3 innings. He carried a shutout into the eighth but issued a leadoff walk to Josh Prince and saw his chance at victory disappear when Weeks went deep off Ambriz.

Jose Altuve had three hits and scored Houston's only run when he singled in the first, moved to third on a walk and stolen base and scored on J.D. Martinez's sacrifice fly.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Weeks moved into the leadoff slot when the Brewers placed CF Norichika Aoki on the paternity list and promoted Prince from Triple-A Nashville. ... The Astros on Wednesday signed RHP Mark Appel, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft. Appel, who grew up in Houston, went 10-4 with 130 strikeouts in 106 1/3 innings in his senior season at Stanford. ... Axford, who lost his job as closer in April, registered his 17th consecutive scoreless appearance.
