Lucas Harrell scattered six singles in seven strong innings and Brandon Laird homered and drove in four runs as host Houston won its second series in two weeks over Seattle.

Ronny Cedeno and Chris Carter also homered for the Astros, who are 4-2 against the Mariners and 3-12 against their other opponents. Harrell (2-2) allowed one run and struck out five in winning his second straight start.

Seattle starter Joe Saunders (1-3) was reached for eight runs and 11 hits in five-plus innings. After posting a 2.08 ERA through his first three starts, the veteran has been pounded for 15 runs in 9 2/3 innings in his last two.

Carter led off the second inning with his fifth home run of the year, four of which have come against the Mariners. He also walked with one out in the fourth and, after Carlos Corporan singled, Cedeno launched one to left to make it 4-0.

Laird added an RBI double in the fifth and capped a five-run sixth with a three-run shot that gave Houston a 10-1 advantage. Justin Smoak led off the ninth with a homer for Seattle and Robert Andino later added an RBI single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Harrell has a 2.88 ERA in 20 games (19 starts) at Minute Maid Park. ... Seattle returns home Thursday to begin a four-game series with the Los Angeles Angels. Houston heads to Boston for a four-game set. ... Smoak is 5-for-10 with a homer, a double and two walks in his last three games.
