Twins 6, Tigers 3: Justin Morneau homered among his four hits and drove in four runs as visiting Minnesota snapped a four-game losing streak.

Mike Pelfrey (5-10) won for the first time in eight starts and Pedro Florimon hit a solo homer as the Twins handed Detroit its sixth loss in 10 games. Pelfrey gave up three runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings to win for the first time since July 6 and Glen Perkins struck out Miguel Cabrera with two aboard in the ninth to earn his 29th save.

Rick Porcello (9-7) had his five-game winning streak snapped, lasting only 4 1/3 innings and allowing five runs on seven hits. He struck out six and walked two while suffering his first loss since June 3.

Prince Fielder belted a towering homer, his 20th, and knocked in a pair of runs for the Tigers, who had their lead over Cleveland in the American League Central cut to 5 1/2 games. Austin Jackson added two hits - including an RBI single - for Detroit.

Morneau hit a two-run homer and Trevor Plouffe added an RBI double in the fourth inning for Minnesota, which received a two-run double from Morneau in the fifth for a 5-1 edge. They were the 18th and 19th RBIs in August for Morneau, who has hit seven of his 15 homers in the month.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Fielder became the fourth player in the major leagues to hit at least 20 homers in each of the last eight years, joining teammate Cabrera, Boston DH David Ortiz and New York Yankees LF Alfonso Soriano. ... Twins C Joe Mauer was a late scratch from the starting lineup after experiencing dizziness during batting practice. Mauer has taken a number of balls off his facemask in the past week and was slotted to start at first base. ... The Twins also were without OF Oswaldo Arcia after his sore left wrist acted up, leaving the team with a one-man bench following the callup of RHP Michael Tonkin.
