Cubs 7, Brewers 2: Dioner Navarro belted a three-run homer to back seven strong innings from Matt Garza as visiting Chicago took the rubber match of the three-game series.

Garza (3-1) struck out a season-high 10 and gave up one run on eight hits as the Cubs made it two straight over the Brewers after snapping a nine-game losing streak in Milwaukee. Garza also had a pair of hits and scored a run to improve to 4-1 lifetime against the Brewers.

Brian Bogusevic had an RBI double and scored twice and Darwin Barney and Nate Schierholtz each knocked in a run as Chicago built a seven-run lead en route to only its fourth win in its last 23 games in Milwaukee.

Brewers starter Wily Peralta (5-9) was unable to overcome two costly errors by his teammates and was charged with seven runs - three earned - on eight hits in five innings. Juan Francisco homered for the third straight game and Logan Schafer had an RBI double for Milwaukee, which dropped a game behind Chicago in the battle for the National League Central basement.

Bogusevic doubled in a run and scored on Barney's RBI single in the second before the Cubs broke it open with a four-run third inning. Errors by rookie left fielder Caleb Gindl and Francisco extended the inning and Navarro capitalized by drilling a two-out blast off Peralta to make it 6-0.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Garza has surrendered two runs in 22 innings over his last three starts. ... CBS Sports reported Thursday that Brewers 3B Corey Hart, who is recovering from major offseason knee surgery, is likely to miss the rest of the season. The two-time All-Star, who initially was expected back near the All-Star break, underwent surgery in January and reportedly was experiencing discomfort in the surgically repaired left knee. ... 2B Rickie Weeks extended his hitting streak to a career-high 11 games and SS Jean Segura ran his to 10 for Milwaukee, which opens a three-game series in Pittsburgh on Friday. The Cubs will continue a nine-game road trip with three games in Seattle.
